A couple of weeks ago I was having a poke around the Superdenim forum. I am not so keen on the Superfuture forums, simply because they are so huge. It is a bit of a pain to find your way about and locate the information you are after. However even if, like me, you only spend a really sort time on the Superdenim forum you cant help but notice a poster called Beatle. She has been busy with the denim scene for a while. She organizes the Heavyweight Denim world Championship alongside Megatron, another well known name on the forums. Anyway, she knows a whole lot about denim to say the least.

Just finished my latest article for Denim Hunters. A city guide specifically for denim in Berlin. It also included places along the way to get a snack, a good coffee and a hearty meal. Somehow Mexican food, artisan coffee and good beer seem to go hand in hand with denim, or maybe it is just me.

Marshall’s gear is about high quality and utilitarian purpose, with everything, even the packaging their products come in. Perhaps at first glance it may seem rather quaint in comparison with the plastic blister packs with full colour print insets and metallic foil applications. Put simply it is a plain cardboard box. However with the use of simple graphics and plain typeface it instils the very essence of Marshall.

Each year at the beginning of November I commiserate another year passing, or more accurately another year en route to my passing. I am very lucky in that some good folk around the world pay attention to this and little packages appear on and around the first with this or that, normally tea and Oat Cakes, specific things from Scotland that I miss and equivalents just can’t be obtained in Germany. This year however there was something quite unexpected. Whisked from literally the other side of the globe by my good friend Andrew (spending some funemployment in Australia at the moment) sent me a pair of Marshall Headphones.

Ever year round the end of October I make a pilgrimage to my old stomping grounds in Leipzig for the Designers Open. The fair has been running for around six years or so and I have diligently attended it every year since 2008. It showcases the work of a wide variety of design related disciplines from craftsman and artisans through students to professional design agencies with a place for everything inbetween.
